Join the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference’s 2024 Catskill Summit Stewards on a moderate, 4.85 mile interpretive nature hike up to North Point, overlooking North-South Lake, in the Windham-Blackhead Range Wilderness. Stewards will teach plant and tree identification, talk about the regions' wildlife and their habit, and explore the geological history of the Catskills Mountains. Get ready to enjoy the wilderness while learning about the natural world and how to protect these spaces by practicing Leave No Trace principles.
Location: Scutt Road Parking Area - Meeting in parking area and following the Rock Shelter Trail and Mary’s Glen Trail up to the Escarpment Trail

Driving Directions: To reach the Scutt Road Parking Area take State Route 23A (4.9 miles west of Palenville; 2 miles east of Tannersville traffic light) to North Lake Road (Co. Hwy. 18). Take this road 2.2 miles and see the small sign for the access point (just before the state campground entrance), turn right, and the parking area is on the right.

Level of Difficulty: Moderate
Recommended Equipment: Lunch/food/snacks, water/drink, sun protection, proper clothing/layers, good hiking shoes
Family Friendly? Ability to climb some steep sections of trail and hike for extended periods of time recommend
